Café and GE refrigerator water filter guide

Updated July 23, 2026 · waterbrand

Café is GE Appliances’ premium line. Many Café refrigerators use the same GE-family water filters as GE Profile and other GE models — but RPWFE and XWFE are not interchangeable. Always match the code on the old cartridge.

Start here

  1. Read the part number on the old filter or the model sticker.
  2. Compare RPWFE vs XWFE if you are unsure which platform you have.
  3. Open GE RPWFE or GE XWFE for direct retailer buttons.
  4. Browse more models on the GE & Café brand hub.

Install & reset

Follow the general install steps, then reset the filter indicator. Café controls may use a different button combo than basic GE — check the sticker inside the fridge or the app/manual.

Flush 2–4 gallons after install. If taste is off, see filter smells bad.

OEM vs compatible

Café owners often prefer OEM for fit on French-door ice systems. Quality compatibles that list your exact model and show NSF marks can save money — OEM vs compatible.
